Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can help people who would like to get more out of life and live life more fully. One major focus of individual treatment is to help clients identify and develop the parts of themselves that are holding them back. Treatment would also include increasing an individual’s ability to cope better with the stresses in his or her life. The goal of therapy is not to solve problems for clients, but rather to help clients discover their inner resources so that they can better help themselves. It is an opportunity for them to learn about themselves so that they can manage their lives more effectively and discover new possibilities for growth and development. The most useful benefit of therapy is often an improvement in health and well-being. This often translates into increased self-confidence, productivity and peace of mind. Cost $125 for 55 minute session in office or $150 for 55 minute session at your workplace or home; $25 per additional 15 minute increments.
Adolescent Therapy
Adolescence can be a particularly difficult time, during which time young people progress from childhood to adulthood. The transition brings physical, social, and emotional changes, and even when life is relatively stress free, it can be a challenging experience. In addition, the adolescent brain is still developing. Therefore, teens don’t have the emotional or cognitive ability to easily identify and verbalize what is going on inside of them, often leading them to act out their feelings instead. When adolescents experience trauma or increased stress such as parental or family discord, bullying or social difficulties, peer pressure, a death of a friend or a family member, or other major life stressors, they may show their feelings of fear, sadness, and anger by changing their behavior, usually negatively. They may seem more argumentative or they may seem to be isolating from the family.
Therapy can be an opportunity for adolescents to process their thoughts and feelings in a safe place so that they can learn more effective ways of interacting with their environment and develop a good set of coping skills. It’s also an opportunity for them to explore and bring together their ideas about their own identity, as this is an important task at this stage of their development. Cost $125 for 55 minute session in office or $150 for 55 minute session at your workplace or home; $25 per additional 15 minute increments.
Family Therapy
Family therapy seeks to reduce distress and conflict by improving the interactions and relationships between family members. This type of therapy views problems as patterns within the family system that need adjusting, as opposed to viewing problems as residing within one person. Family therapy can be helpful on several levels; developing and maintaining healthy boundaries, fostering cohesion and communication among family members, promoting problem solving through increased understanding of family patterns and dynamics, building empathy and understanding, and reducing family conflict. Cost $160 for initial 90 minute session, $125 for follow up 55 minute session; $25 per additional 15 minute increments.
Women Centered Therapy
Women face competing priorities, roles and life expectations more now than ever. We have a range of responsibilities and many roles to balance. Sometimes balancing all of these expectations can lead to stress, eating disorders, anxiety and depression, a sense of purposelessness, addiction or other mental health issues. Without balance and effective stress reduction and coping mechanisms, women can turn to unhealthy behaviors to deal with the growing pressure. Women centered therapy embraces your strengths and empowers you to take back your personal authority, that might have been lost along the way through trauma, domestic violence and interpersonal betrayal. Cost $125 for 55 minute session in office or $150 for 55 minute session at your workplace or home; $25 per additional 15 minute increments.
Addictions Counseling
Abusing alcohol or drugs adversely impacts the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual growth necessary for a healthy, fulfilling life. Continued abuse over the long term is likely to cause the loss of family relationships, friendships, work performance, personal functioning and health. Denial is a key issue, that typically keeps a person from seeking help. Refusing to believe or acknowledge the problem, the person then rationalizes his or her destructive behavior. Most people see losing control to alcohol or drugs as a personal weakness and not a disease. Consequently, the person would rather justify his or her use than admit to being weak. Chemical dependency is not an issue of will power! Addictions counseling needs to a holistic approach that brings balance and healing to the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual parts of the person. Clients learn to make shifts in the way they think about using drugs and alcohol, understanding that these substances are not the answer to solving their problems but create problems. Cost $125 for 55 minute session in office or $150 for 55 minute session at your workplace or home; $25 per additional 15 minute increments.
